Since 2005, Missionary Ventures Canada (www.mvcanada.org) has been offering a free mission trip at MissionFest Toronto to anywhere in Central America where they have a base. MVC is a great organization and MissionFest is blessed to partner with them on this project.

Here is a letter from last year’s winner:

I’m 28 years old. I’ve known God since I was a child being brought up in a Christian home but I accepted Jesus Christ when I was 15 during the Billy Graham Evangelistic Crusade in Toronto. I'm a member of a church in Toronto called The IEMELIF Church of Canada. IEMELIF stands for Iglesia Evangelica Metodista en las Islas Filipinas, which translates to Evangelical Methodist Church in the Islands of the Philippines, but is in Canada of course. I started serving God since I was 17 when I was recruited to teach arts and crafts for Vacation Bible School. Little did I know that what I used to think was just a fun activity with the children, would be the path where God would lead me in my service for His kingdom.

I was very fond of art and children. Through the many years of teaching, my relationship with God grew stronger and I realized where God was leading me to serve using my gift of teaching. I am very much involved in the children/youth ministry and the Christian education ministry in my home church. God also has allowed me to work as a graphic designer by career. Everyday I ask the Lord of more opportunities where I can be used, not only in the local church but outside of it as well.

About five years ago, I’ve been having a tug in my heart about going overseas to go on a mission trip. I would pray about it and pray that I would be able to afford to go. I always said, "one of these days I’ll go", because my heart desires to go and experience ministry outside of Canada. Every year in MissionFest, I get fired up about going on a Mission Trip, and every year I fill out the form to win a free short-term mission trip from Missionary Ventures. This year, before leaving the exhibit hall, I filled out the form and I never thought anything of it afterwards.  Lately though, I’ve been discussing with God, that if this is the year that he wants me to go on a mission trip - I believe that He will provide for me. The free mission trip draw never even entered my mind.

On April 28, I received an email from Jude Hodgson of MissionFest letting me know that my name was drawn. Praise God! It was such a surprise! I said, "God you really want me to go. I have no excuse not to go. And I'm glad!" It has always been my desire to go on a mission trip and I thank God that He’s allowing me to experience it. I thank God also for using the MissionFest organization and Missionary Ventures Canada for allowing people like me to experience this type of ministry. I am eternally grateful, indeed!

Thank you so much!

God bless,
Shiela Rocillo
