Toronto visitor notes kept on this domain

Four notes about visiting Toronto were published here before this record was assembled. They are not part of the conference archive and have nothing to do with it, but they are kept at the addresses they were published at, along with the sources they cite.

The record of Mission Fest Toronto itself starts at the front page, with the exhibitor roster in the directory of mission organizations.

Why four unrelated posts are still here

These four notes were published on this domain before the conference record was assembled, and they have nothing to do with Mission Fest Toronto. They are kept for a straightforward reason: other sites link to them at these addresses, and moving or deleting a page that somebody else points at breaks their link rather than tidying ours.

Each of the four also cites sources of its own — Toronto news organisations, a sightseeing operator, a transit blog — and those citations are carried exactly as they were published. A page kept for the sake of the links pointing at it would be a strange thing to strip the links out of.

What they cover

Three of them are itinerary notes at different scales: a full day in the city centre, a longer walk through the core and the older quarters beside it, and a half-day in the market and distillery area east of downtown. Between them they answer the question most short-stay visitors actually have, which is not what to see but how much of it fits in the time available.

The fourth is different in kind: a note on how Ontario's provincial rules — alcohol, cannabis, smoking and a regulated online gambling market — differ from what a visitor might expect from elsewhere in Canada or from the United States. It stays at the level of structure rather than particulars, because particulars in that area change and a page that lists them would be confidently wrong within a season.

How they relate to the rest of the site

They do not, and the separation is deliberate. The conference record is indexed from the front page, with the exhibitor roster in the directory of mission organizations and the year-by-year account in the archive. Nothing in those pages depends on these four, and nothing in these four is used as evidence there.

They are listed together here so that they are reachable without appearing in the site's main navigation, which is the honest arrangement for content that belongs to an earlier use of the same address.

What was here before, and what happened to it

The domain carried a small number of posts of this kind and nothing else — no conference material, no roster, no archive. The record that now occupies the rest of the site was assembled separately, from the conference's own published material, and put at the addresses the conference had used. These four kept theirs.

Two consequences follow, and both are visible on the site. The first is that the navigation makes no attempt to integrate them: they are not in the main menu, and no page in the conference record links to them except this index. The second is that they are written in a different register from everything else here, because they were written for a different purpose by someone else. Neither has been smoothed over.
